La société LEKI Lenhart GmbH est née à partir de l'entreprise de traitement de bois fondée en 1948 à Dettingen/Teck par Karl Lenhart, qui fabriquait des lettres en bois pour les panneaux de boulangeries ou de boucheries.
C'est suite au mécontentement personnel du fondateur que l'extraordinaire développement de LEKI a commencé : Karl Lenhart était un skieur enthousiaste, mais il n'était jamais satisfait de la qualité et de la fonctionnalité des bâtons de ski de son époque.
C'est ainsi qu'il a commencé à fabriquer lui-même des poignées et des rondelles pour les bâtons de ski avec son parc de machines, et que LEKI est né.
